Let’s whip things into shape, shall we?

14 May

Two of my best friends from college, Hayley and Sam, came to visit me in Austin this past week. It was so great to have my girls here!

We spent five days gallavanting around Austin, shopping, eating, drinking, and laying around watching romantic comedies like only a trio of girls can. It was wonderful. Except now that they’re gone I feel like a stuffed derma (ew) and it’s time to whip myself back into shape!

Step 1: Less meat, more vegetables

eat less meat

Step 2: Get my workout schedule back & kick some serious ass

summer workout plan

See those Sunday yoga classes I added in? Well, this weekend I did a yoga class with my friends and it opened my eyes to how stiff my body is. Personally, yoga isn’t exactly for me. It’s a little too slow, long, and boring (and in my head, all I’m thinking is “Ah! C’mon!! Let’s make some moves! I can’t take it anymore!”). I much prefer 12 minute high intensity interval training–hence the HIIT you see all over my 4 week schedule. Nonetheless, that doesn’t mean I don’t recognize the benefits of yoga. I am going to incorporate it this coming month to see if over time it helps my body.

Step 3: Figure out why Sancho started eating all my shoes, and get him to stop.

Do you have a summer whip into shape plan? What’s on the list?

P.S. I’m turning 27 tomorrow! Ahhhh late twenties!!!! NOOOOO!!!!

My summer “whip into shape” plan involved exercising. Of any kind. Haha. That and I did a “Body Pump” class yesterday that kicked my ass and I LOVED IT! Will definitely be back for more!

I’ve heard of Body Pump and it sounds awesome! I have to try it one day! Right now I’m staring at the clock about to turn 5pm and I didn’t do today’s workout yet. Motivate, motivate, motivate!

I’ve been doing yoga for about a year now, and I’ve found that you don’t need to do a long boring workout to get the benefits. I have the Slim, Calm, Sexy Yoga book from women’s health mag and I don’t think any routine takes more than 20 minutes… I think you’d really like it. If you want I can scan/send you a few pages to check it out!

PS I'm about to start bodyrock week 3 and I'm loving it!
