Running Is Good for Me.

1 Oct

Running makes me feel whole.

The rush of pounding the ground in the morning with my heart beating fast and legs burning just freakin’ rocks. Every time I get nervous about missing a few days, or a week, or even a month, when I get back I’m in love.

I’m in love with running! Did you know this?

Yesterday I broke through my potential down-slump and woke up 6:15 to get in 3 miles here. I felt pretty good on this run, and was happy I got my ass up to get out there. It is seriously getting darker in the morning–need to use my “Beat the Morning Darkness” tips! It is now pitch black at 6am. This makes me drink more coffee before I leave instinctively. Darkness=higher caffeine consumption? Study coming soon.

This morning’s wake up was also hard, but really once I make some coffee and hang on the couch with Mike 1 for a few, I’m okay to go.

I ran 3.3 miles here just past the Williamsburg Bridge, and it was glorious. Song of the run was “No Rain” by Blind Melon. It is getting COLD out there! 48 degrees this morning. I donned running tights and a zip-up for the first time this season. When I got back, I attempted to capture the fall outfit for you and came out with a series of (goofy) pictures:

That’s post-run mel.

I thought you might need a sweaty picture of me to start your day. I couldn’t think of a better way.

I love starting my day with sweaty, Mel. Thanks for staying so upbeat in spite of the freezing and ever-growing dark, scary weather.

YAYYY!! Running slump over!! I didn’t start my day with that sweaty picture of you but I am rounding out my night with it! Maybe I’ll have dreams about you running in the pitch black chugging coffee. Haha darkness totally makes drinking more coffee acceptable!
